I just started my winter bag yesterday!!! It’s getting too cold here to carry my summer sea-grass tote. I want something warm, soft, and rich for winter, sturdy, but stylish. The cover of Bag Style grabbed me with felted tweed bag and velvet covered buttons. Perfect for winter!
Here, I’m using Manos Del Uruguay. Luminous, eh? “The Hands of Uruguay is a non-profit organization made up of over 400 artisans in cooperatives throughout the countryside. Their mission is to encourage economic and social opportunities to rural women.” Handcrafted and kettle-dyed feel good about making a difference yarn.
It starts on a size 13 circular and changes as you knit. I started with a rectangular bottom knitting with two yarns together and picked up stitches on all sides, but one long side. The pattern continues in the round with the knit stitch for some time and eventually one yarn is dropped. At this point the need size changes to 11 to draw the bag in for shaping.
I’ll keep you posted!
